We Did It! We Achieved Qmentum Status!

We are thrilled to announce that after almost 2 years of hard work and dedication, Radius achieved Qmentum status with Accreditation Canada! Over a 3-day period in late June, Radius staff met with Surveyors from Accreditation Canada. During that time, we were evaluated on a set of over 400 rigorous global standards. We achieved 97.5% compliance with these standards, which means Radius passed with Exemplary Standing!

Bente Skau, Director of Clinical Services, said Radius staff showcased their passion and commitment to our clients during the onsite survey and it was evident that the surveyors saw it too. She acknowledges the hard work that went into this process, in addition to the regular day-to-day work and wants to commend everyone for playing their part. “It’s truly incredible how our team came together to achieve this common goal!” she says. “It has solidified what a great team we are and how dedicated we are to quality and safe services.”

You might be asking, why does Radius want to be accredited? Accreditation Canada’s Qmentum program helps organizations meet global standards, putting mechanisms in place that lead to safe and effective care and ensures that quality and safety are top of mind. The program also uses evidence-informed standards developed by Health Standards Organization (HSO) and endorsed by the SCC as National Standards of Canada. These standards are designed and localized for use around the world. Radius chose to embark on this process to strengthen and build our relationships and partnerships in the community, giving our clients and families more confidence in the services we provide.

One of the focal points embedded into accreditation is client and family-centred care. Radius is committed to working closely with clients and families to ensure we design, deliver and evaluate services that are mutually beneficial. For instance, we have created a Client, Caregiver and Family Advisory Council (CCFAC) where clients and families have a voice. We meet quarterly and have received important feedback that we have used to better meet their needs and improve our services.

“I’m extremely proud of everyone who worked so diligently to achieve this outcome!” said Allan Bishop, Executive Director. “It was a team effort, that included staff, clients, community supporters, and board members – thank you to everyone who supported us in our Qmentum journey!” Anthony Odoardi, President and Board Chair, echoed these comments.

And the journey doesn’t end here. We are dedicated to ensuring we continuously evaluate and improve our policies and procedures in the days, months and years ahead. We know that achieving Qmentum status requires an ongoing commitment to work with our clients and families in order to build this organization as a ‘centre of excellence’. Accreditation Canada will work with us until our next survey and we intend to keep this momentum going to prove our dedication to this process. Stay tuned for more to come on this journey!
