Did you know? Radius has a small but mighty team dedicated to conducting both short- and longer-term research.  We take pride in the fact that our research informs clinical practice.  What does this mean?  That what we learn through research helps us know how to best help the children, youth and families that we serve and how we can improve our programs and services. We Did It! Radius is Accredited!

Radius Child and Youth Services is proud to announce that it has successfully achieved the Accreditation Primer status with Accreditation Canada. The decision followed its first on-site survey in October 2019 as part of an ongoing accreditation process. We are proud to say that we met 68 of the 70 criteria that were identified as being relevant to Radius, which is a fantastic result for us!

Welcome to 2020 – And a New Decade!

We are starting a new year, and with it a new decade is ahead of us! For those of you are new to Radius Child and Youth Services and to those of you who have supported Radius for some time, I want to say a big “Thank You”! Thank you for working along side us throughout 2019, spreading the word, building awareness, donating time, funds or resources, and ensuring that we continue to work towards ending the cycle of abuse, neglect and violence. 2019 was a great year and I am thankful for all that we have accomplished, the small and the big steps we have each taken to change lives!

Research News at Radius!

The Research Team is currently engaged in multiple exciting research projects. One of the projects was developed by Radius’ Clinical Director, Bente Skau. Together, we are investigating what victims of sexual abuse want to happen to the perpetrator. With this study, we hope to fill a knowledge gap, as there is only one published study on this topic.

We don’t want to boast, but in this case we must! Our staff are so talented and we are very proud to announce that our Clinical Therapists, Rachael and Rebecca have had a journal article published in Social Work with Groups special issue Making Waves:Group Work Stories of Social Justice.

A BIG Congratulations to our Clinician, John Walker!

We are thrilled that our very own Clinician, John Walker, and his co-author, Daniyal Zuberi, have had their research published in the Journal of International Migration and Integration. Their work entitled “School-Aged Syrian Refugees Resettling in Canada: Mitigating the Effect of Pre-migration Trauma and Post-migration Discrimination on Academic Achievement and Psychological Well-Being” is sure to benefit many in the field for years to come.

Radius is committed to providing multiple student-based opportunities to gain experience, insight, and training in one of Radius’ programs and services.  Along with clinical placements, Radius offers a research-training program to university and college students at all levels.
