Meet Our Volunteer, Matthew Vezina!

Just over four years ago, Radius had the honour of meeting Matthew Vezina. Matthew heard about the work of Radius through a close friend and decided to join our Tournament of Hope Committee. He told us that working with Radius and knowing that he could make a difference, even in some small way in the life of a child who needs help, is very rewarding.

How did you get involved with Radius’s Tournament of Hope?

I heard about the work and mission of Radius through my fellow committee member and friend, Michael Phinney. He spoke highly about Radius and I was intrigued how I could help too. That’s when I decided to join the Tournament of Hope Committee.

What are the benefits, for you, of volunteering?

It’s always nice be able to impact others in a positive way, but it’s really about letting others know the importance of what Radius does and how much more work there is yet to be done to help all of the children who need it.

Do you find volunteering rewarding?

Working for Radius and being a father myself, knowing that I can make a difference, even in some small way, in the life of a child who needs help, is very rewarding.

As a committee member, do you feel you are making a difference to the community?

I do feel we are making a difference, though I always feel like we could be doing more.

Would you recommend volunteering at Radius to others? Why?

I would absolutely recommend volunteering at Radius as it’s a very well-run organization with tremendous people who help the most vulnerable members of our society find the help they need. Anyone who has something to give, whether it be their time or money will find a worthwhile partner in Radius.

More about Matt…

Matt was born and raised in South Mississauga before buying his first home in Oakville, Ontario, which is how he became part of Radius Child and Youth Services. He is a Mortgage Specialist with RBC Royal Bank and has worked at RBC for over 18 years. Now residing in the Flamborough area with his wife, 5 children (and a dog named Chewie), he spends much of his free time at the local hockey rinks as both player and spectator.  As well as volunteering his time, skills and knowledge to the Tournament of Hope, Matt also donates to Radius through payroll deduction. He is a great ambassador for Radius, and has helped raise much needed funds to help our young clients attain futures free from abuse.

THANK YOU to Matt for his outstanding support of Radius and helping the children, youth and families in our local communities build futures free from abuse, neglect and violence.
