In August 2019, Liz Lartey joined Radius Child and Youth Services as an integral part of our Research team. Our Research team is continuously involved in multiple exciting research projects each year, and we were thrilled when Liz joined our team. We thought you would be interested to learn more about Liz’s role at Radius and why she chose the career path she did.
Whether you celebrate the 1920’s or 2020’s, Radius is over the moon to announce their 2020 Spring Event! We’ll be putting on the ritz, Saturday, April 25th, at our Roaring Twenties Party! Jazz it up with all the glitz and glamour of the 1920’s (and none of the Prohibition) while helping raise funds for children, youth and families affected by abuse.
Radius Child and Youth Services is proud to announce that it has successfully achieved the Accreditation Primer status with Accreditation Canada. The decision followed its first on-site survey in October 2019 as part of an ongoing accreditation process. We are proud to say that we met 68 of the 70 criteria that were identified as being relevant to Radius, which is a fantastic result for us!
We are starting a new year, and with it a new decade is ahead of us! For those of you are new to Radius Child and Youth Services and to those of you who have supported Radius for some time, I want to say a big “Thank You”! Thank you for working along side us throughout 2019, spreading the word, building awareness, donating time, funds or resources, and ensuring that we continue to work towards ending the cycle of abuse, neglect and violence. 2019 was a great year and I am thankful for all that we have accomplished, the small and the big steps we have each taken to change lives!
At Radius, we are fortunate to have staff who are dedicated to our mission to help children, youth and families build their futures free from abuse, neglect and violence. And Vanessa Junior is one such individual! We wanted you to get to know them (and some of our other colleagues in future newsletters) … so read on to get a behind the scenes look at the work of a Clinical Therapist … Meet Vanessa Junior!
The Research Team is currently engaged in multiple exciting research projects. One of the projects was developed by Radius’ Clinical Director, Bente Skau. Together, we are investigating what victims of sexual abuse want to happen to the perpetrator. With this study, we hope to fill a knowledge gap, as there is only one published study on this topic.
Just over four years ago, Radius had the honour of meeting Matthew Vezina. Matthew heard about the work of Radius through a close friend and decided to join our Tournament of Hope Committee. He told us that working with Radius and knowing that he could make a difference, even in some small way in the life of a child who needs help, is very rewarding.
