Meet Our Clinical Therapist, Angie Lau!

We’d like you to get to know us better and what better way to do that than meeting one of our Clinical Therapists – Angie Lau! Angie has been with Radius since September 2019. Angie completed her undergraduate at University of Ottawa in Criminology and Psychology.  After having an opportunity to do a practicum in a forensic psychiatry unit, she decided social work would be a better fit.  Angie then completed her masters in social work at Wilfred Laurier University.

The 2021 Tournament of Hope!

The annual  Tournament of Hope will be held on Monday, August 23, 2021 at Piper’s Heath Golf Course. Safety measures including scheduled tee times, contactless registration and gourmet food stations are on course in place of a banquet, and to ensure that everyone has a great day of golf. We wouldn’t be able to put on an event like the Tournament of Hope without our Organizing Committee. Meet them below:

Radius’ Youth Dating Violence Pilot Program

For almost 40 years, Radius has been providing specialized assessment and treatment services to children and youth who have been impacted by interpersonal violence, particularly sexual abuse and sexual violence. Recently, Public Safety Canada awarded Radius a grant to pilot a program treating young people who have engaged in Youth Dating Violence (YDV). It is a voluntary program for young people, aged 12-24 who have used some form of violence in a dating relationship. We provide a comprehensive clinical assessment and treatment.  We recognize that many young people who engage in violent behaviour often have a trauma history, therefore, where indicated a trauma assessment and trauma therapy will be is integrated into the treatment.

Looking Ahead to a Post Covid-19 World

As we move into the second half of 2021 and over 400 days of dealing with a pandemic, we are optimistic about what the future holds. We are hopeful that over the summer months our Radius community is able to resume some sort of normalcy in their lives. We are also confident that the work all of our staff and partners have put into our transition to virtual assessment and treatment will serve us well into the future. We know that it’s not been easy. Each and every day has been a struggle for us all, but we have risen to the challenge and know that we will all be better for it on the other side.

October 27 is #DressPurpleDay2020

Every October, Radius has dressed purple in support of Child Abuse Prevention Month. The 2020 campaign is more important than ever, since the COVID-19 pandemic has created additional stressors for families, and in some cases has increased risk for the well-being and safety of vulnerable children, youth and families.
