$5,000 Grant from the Youth and Philanthropy Initiative Canada

Each year, YPI Canada grants hundreds of thousands of dollars to community-based social service charities.

In teams, students learn about social issues impacting their community, choose a charity that addresses one issue to research and visit, and then share what they learned with their peers through a classroom presentation. The top presentations from the year advance to the school’s YPI Final, where a youth-led panel of judges selects one team to win a $5,000 grant for the charity they represented.

We were thrilled to learn that three grade 10 students, Kaitlyn, Diana and Sabrina, were the top presenters and were awarded the $5,000 … all for Radius! We asked them why they chose Radius and what they learned. Here’s what they said:

“The workers at Radius expressed how much they care about ending violence and abuse and healing children affected by it. We were inspired to share their work with the other students and staff and bring awareness to violence and abuse, but also to let people know that a safe haven like Radius exists and that there are people like Radius workers who can help.”

From all of us at Radius, thank you so much for your hard work and passion for the work we do! You should all be so very proud of yourselves!
